I am 47 years old and found myself in the emergency room dealing with some scary stuff with my heart. Adrian, my RN, had a very calming effect on me as she talked me through what was going on.

I know that eye contact seems a rather simple thing, but for me it means everything. Adrian spoke to me while taking the time to look at me. This calmed me down more than anything because I knew that I was being seen by her.

Adrian took the time to laugh with me and be totally present with me while caring for me. She started an IV with a soft hand; she explained the different things that were happening all at the same time. She was the exact person I needed during a hypertensive crisis. I will never forget her calming effect on me during my time in the ER.
