June 2026 Honoree
Adriana M Rozzi, BSN, RN
I would like to recognize Nurse Adriana for the DAISY Award because of the truly exceptional care she provided to my daughter, as well as the compassion she showed to me during a traumatic time. My daughter had to have emergency surgery, and the situation was terrifying, overwhelming, and anxiety-ridden.
From the moment Adriana entered the emergency department to take my daughter to surgery, she made it clear that she genuinely cared about my daughter as a person and not just another patient passing through. She took time to speak to my daughter directly and explained who she was, what she would be doing, and that she would be with her every step of the way.
She was patient, calm, empathetic, compassionate, and respectful in every way possible. Although this was a life-threatening time for my daughter, while doctors were running around, she assured me that she would take great care of my daughter. While I was distraught, she consoled me and gave me a hug, which made the situation a little easier because I felt that she would not let anything bad happen to my daughter.
Another moment that stood out to me was when she asked my daughter about her other children and promised that she would be seeing them later after surgery. That small, thoughtful gesture helped my daughter and me feel more at ease in a scary situation. It empowered both of us to push through.
What meant the most to our family was Adriana's ability to create a sense of trust and safety and an environment of nonjudgment given the circumstances. She showed incredible patience, kindness, compassion, and respect, and her approach immediately filled my heart. Because of Adriana, our visit felt less traumatic and more like a supportive human experience.
Nurse Adriana went above and beyond in every way. Her empathy, communication, and genuine warmth were a breath of fresh air and made a lasting impression on our family that we will never forget. We are so grateful for the care that SRMC was able to provide, as well as for my daughter's operating room nurse, Adriana. She is exactly the kind of nurse you hope for when entrusting your child to someone's care, and she is truly deserving of this recognition.
