My family and I really think that if it weren't for Adriana's presence and actions that night, my new baby and kids would grow up without me.
I really want to nominate nurse Adriana in the ICU because she truly saved my life. I just had my gall bladder taken out, and I started to bleed a lot from the inside while recovering on the third floor. I was throwing up clots that were the size of a golf ball, so I was transferred to the ICU, where I continued to get worse. I was so terrified. I was getting more and more confused.
Being a 24-year-old mom who just had a baby days ago, I remembered I felt my life was slipping away. I don't remember much, but my mom and sister were by my side. They said I was in and out of consciousness, so nurse Adriana called for help. My mom said so many people came, and they acted really fast to save me. The ICU team was so close to doing compressions. If they did compressions, that would have meant I died, right? Thank God that didn't happen. All I know is I woke up in the morning with a tube down my throat and on a breathing machine. I was again terrified. Adriana was able to explain everything that happened from my transfer to the ICU up to this point. I felt reassured, and I was able to calm down enough to have the tube taken out later that day.
My family and I really think that if it weren't for Adriana's presence and actions that night, my new baby and kids would grow up without me. She must have been sent to care for me in such a critical moment. I feel blessed because she made all the difference and the reason I am still alive and have a life with my family. Thank you, Adriana, and God Bless.
