While my 96-year-old mother was recovering in the ICU, she was unconscious and has been bedridden for a few weeks. I often met with the nurse who seemed very kind and knowledgeable. One day this nurse took care of my mother in place of another. I saw the care and warmth. She often understood the emotion of visiting relatives. There were many visitors. She was not daunted. Often she would converse with us regarding the patient conditions without asking. She also accompanied the attending doctor. She always gave very trusting facts with confidence but kindly. I would like to see many ICU personnel hold themselves in this regard. Having this nurse take care of my mom was a comfort.
