I came to the IUC with a trachea in my neck. I woke up scared and depressed. I was ready to give up, upset and worked up about what was going on. Later that day, I was told I would lose my voice box because I had cancer, most likely. That really scared me. With my health, I have been in many hospitals over the years since 2005, including this one. That means meeting a lot of staff and personnel, but none like Aeronney. She was concerned about me and my state of mind.

The next day, I found out that I would have to have chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Aeronney saw how distraught I was and took wonderful care of me. After her shift was over, she pulled a chair beside my bed and consoled me. She talked to me about my depression. She stayed until my mental state was better and I was ready to rest. She went above and beyond the call of duty as a health care professional. I have now been in the hospital for almost 3 weeks. Aeronney became my friend that day by doing her job to help me become ready to fight cancer for my life. This is why she should be recognized and awarded for her compassion, for her patience, for her job, and beyond.

Note: This is Aeronney's 2nd DAISY Award!

Thank you, Aeronney, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
