While managing a patient in advanced labor, Afia’s expert assessment identified a high symphysis-fundal height, signaling potential complications. When the delivery was interrupted by shoulder dystocia—a life-threatening situation where the baby's head retracts—Afia remained remarkably calm. She eased the mother’s panic by confidently assuring her of her expertise while simultaneously coordinating her team to perform a hyperflexion maneuver to safely dislodge the baby's shoulder.
