BSN, RN
OB*/Gyne
Security Forces Hospital - Riyadh
Riyadh
Saudi Arabia
Afnan is resilient and compassionately caring for her patients.
I would like to nominate Afnan from Ward 4A OB/Gyne as a deserving recipient of The DAISY Award. This nurse’s clinical skill and especially her compassionate care exemplifies the kind of nurse that our patients, their families, and our staff recognize as an outstanding role model as per the criteria.
Around the globe, nurses’ compassion and extraordinary care rendered to patients and families are being recognized through the DAISY Award. A staff who is going beyond in her service deserves to be awarded one.
In vision 2030, one way to support RNs to be competitive in service specifically in the nursing field, is to recognize each effort they undertake. This is to motivate them and encourage newbies in the nursing profession that they can do what the other staff do and even can go beyond.
Afnan Mohammed, is one of the Saudi staff in Ward 4A OB/Gyne hired in 2016. She started in the unit with no experience as a fresh graduate. She‘d undergone a lot of challenges and struggles while starting her professional journey. She experienced personal and work-related challenges which she faced and dealt with in a professional manner.
Today, it is such an honor to see her growth and independence. Afnan is resilient and compassionately caring for her patients. She is the only Saudi nurse who stayed in the unit for many years. Afnan openly accepts other tasks and shows enthusiasm to learn without complaint. Moreover, she can be relied upon as an acting head nurse in the absence of the latter.
