My dad got sick very suddenly and by the time we knew what happened, he was in a coma on life support. From the moment I got to the ICU, Afton was attentive, compassionate, and a fantastic advocate for his care and for anything our family needed. She made sure we were well-informed at every turn, which made an incredibly hard situation a little more bearable. Afton's kindness and empathy were deeply appreciated.

As the medical decision-maker for my dad and having a big family, she also advocated for me on a number of occasions. She made me feel supported and in control when it was needed. She offered to run interference if things got difficult or there was conflict, and to make sure she was present for any hard conversations if we needed that.

Afton treated my dad with the utmost care and respect, and we were incredibly appreciative of that. Her care for my dad and our whole family during this time will never be forgotten. She exemplifies the best qualities of nurses: knowledgeable and professional, ethical, compassionate, respectful, and genuinly kind. We are so thankful for Afton.
