We moved here from New York because I lost my wife and A’s siblings. I am getting old so I decided to move here to California to be close to our relatives and in case something happened to me they can take care of A. Agnes is an excellent example of what all people in the nursing field should strive to be. Her professionalism and compassion for my son truly impressed me. She makes rounds every morning, assists A with his breakfast, and talks to him like a normal person with love and compassion. She comforts A when he is sad and feels like nobody loves him or cares for him. One time A was crying after hitting me. Due to frustration, I left the unit. A started crying, throwing things, and asked Agnes, “Am I a bad boy?” Agnes stayed with him, comforting him, touching his arm, and told him, “no you are not a bad boy, your dad loves you, he just needs to step out for a while." As Agnes was saying that to A you could feel the emotions and tears coming out of her eyes.

Agnes will help A get up, put him on the chair and take him close to the nurse’s station with her. She will continue her work as a Charge nurse and at the same time she will interact with A and offer water and snacks. A probably is going to be here for a while because he is a placement issue but seeing how the nurses take care of him, especially Agnes makes me feel that he is in the right place especially currently that he is going through so much emotionally. No matter what we asked of her, she quickly did it or got whatever my son needed.

My son had many fantastic nurses, but Agnes was very special. Her love and caring attitude were greatly appreciated, not only by my son but by myself. There wasn’t a specific situation, but her daily pleasant, caring disposition and motherly attitude made our worst days more tolerable. Agnes will touch many lives and help spread many recoveries. She is truly a DAISY Nurse.
