Not only did Ahmad give my dad the most compassionate care, it felt like he cared for all of us as an extension of his patient.
Our dad was extremely sick in the hospital on the 4th floor. His health got to the point where my mom started spending the night with him overnight. She had spent the night in the extra wooden chairs in the room and didn’t mind, but the night Ahmad was my dad’s nurse, my mom asked him if she could spend the night and he took note that there were only wooden chairs in the room. He told us he would be back. It was already past his shift change time and he went to other floors in the hospital to find my mom a recliner so she could be comfortable next to my dad. Not only did he give my dad the most compassionate care, it felt like he cared for all of us as an extension of his patient. He brought us a comfort cart and made sure all of our questions and concerns were listened to and heard. Having a loved one in the hospital is an impossibly difficult experience and having a nurse like Ahmed helps shine a little bit of light in such a dark time.
