Aileen creates an environment that fosters care and compassion. She engages and empowers her staff to act with heart and purpose.
• Role model for compassion and exemplary practice – When my wife was admitted to the ward. I'm grateful that the nurse who took care of my wife was not an ordinary staff nurse, she is attending to all the patients and we are one of those whom she always checked on from time to time. Her being connected with us makes my wife feel comfortable. She is most of the time assisting with whatever we requested. We feel her empathy towards the situation of my wife. She demonstrated respect while even observing her from afar with her colleagues, and because of her involvement with the care of my wife, she let me feel comfortable because her explanation makes us at peace in that situation.
• Role models behaviour perceived as extraordinary- She goes above and beyond her duties as unit manager and she extended her helping hands to help her colleagues/staff with difficult situations.
• Creates an environment that fosters care and compassion. She engages and empowers her staff to act with heart and purpose. One of the best practices she emphasized was, “If you want people to take committed action and put in a superior performance, you must have to Connect, Assist, Respect, and Explain with your patient every step of the way.
• Creates an environment where attributes of trust, compassion, mutual respect, continued professional development and ethical behaviour are modeled and supported - She is a born mentor with an enduring impact on the nurses she works with. She inspires, coaches, and guides others with compassion, clarity, and purpose. The integrity and authenticity in her actions build trust, compassion, and mutual respect. She ensured that most of her staff attended the Educational Professional development program on time.
• Motivates staff with a shared vision and enthusiasm to achieve better outcomes for themselves and for their patients – She promotes a positive and caring environment for her staff who, in turn, feel supported and empowered, motivates staff members to strive for excellence, and promotes staff satisfaction.
• Is a mentor to staff - a warm and diligent mentor, she uses all her resources to make sure she set her team up for success. Her great attention to detail makes sure that if we have a new process in place or any procedure that has opportunities for improvement.
• Accessible, available, and responsive to the needs of others, encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving for individuals and with the context of teams - She comes to work every day ready to pour herself into the needs of those around her. She’s always open and available to those who need her. She truly encourages the best kind of environment, one that fosters individual and team growth. Patient experience score sustained quarterly in her unit.
• Promotes and enhances the image of nursing within the organization, the community, and the profession - She is hardworking, compassionate, and inspirational! truly blessed to have her as a unit manager. Her strength and dedication honour the nursing profession. She is actively engaged in Magnet and Leadership Council. Ensuring Professional Practice Model enculturated into practice by her staff.
