June 2026 Honoree
Ailyn Gonzalez, RN
I came into the hospital with A-fib and had trouble breathing. After my cardioversion the next day, I actually felt worse even though my heart was in proper sinus rhythm. Everyone seemed not to be concerned about this, but when I told my RN, Ailyn Gonzalez, she listened to me and began to check my lungs, BP, and pulse.
What most impressed me was that she called all three of my cardiologists and notified them. In a very short time, one of their PAs arrived and evaluated me and ordered more tests. Now I have some of the answers, and they are now following up with me.
Ailyn was very personable, and she got to know my wife when she was here yesterday. Most of all I am impressed that she was not only personable but she was professional! She took ownership and saw me as "her" patient and not merely as "a patient".
She listened to my complaints, checked my symptoms, and got on the phone with my doctors. She actually did what she said she would do, which is rare. Then she stayed in the room with me while the doctors interviewed and examined me, and she made more calls to the other doctors who were not present about the latest diagnosis and updated treatments and recommended protocols.
Her concern and care for me as a person and "her patient" have guaranteed me better care from beginning to end. She is an exemplary nurse and a kind, decent, and understanding person. She listened to me, and she followed up!

Thank you, Ailyn, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
