She was the strength when we both were falling apart. If it weren't for Aimee, we would not have the hope and feeling of support we need to face this long recovery ahead.
My husband suffered a stroke in October. We are blessed with the excellent medical care he received at Dublin Methodist Hospital. This is not something at age 57 my husband or I were expecting. His paralysis on the left side and his struggle to speak left us terrified and him frustrated. To see my husband, P, a 6'4 veteran Marine, cry and not be able to walk independently was/is heartbreaking. Aimee was our nurse on Saturday. She took the time to sit with us and explain strokes and the recovery. She told him he was a fighter and encouraged him. We were so blessed to have her as our nurse for 4 consecutive days. During that time, she cried with us, and she encouraged us. She was the strength when we both were falling apart. If it weren't for Aimee, we would not have the hope and feeling of support we need to face this long recovery ahead. All of our nurses were kind and caring. They did their jobs with expertise and professionalism. There is definitely something different about Aimee. She went above and beyond. Aimee treated my husband not like a patient, but rather a person who needed compassion, hope, realistic answers, encouragement through frustration and positivity. She didn't just do her job; she touched our lives. She is so deserving of recognition for being the best of the best. As an educator of more than 37 years and a principal for the past 21, I have continually focused on relationships first. I share with my staff it is about the impact you leave on the heart as much as on the mind. There is a wonderful book called the FRED factor. Where Fred is a mailman. He could just deliver mail, but he doesn't just look at his job as a duty for a paycheck. He gets to know his neighborhoods and serves them above and beyond. This started a phenomenon called the Fred factor. It celebrates those who look at what they do as a calling, a passion. Aimee is so much more than a nurse. She does so much more than just take care of patients. She CARES for and about them. She is one of a kind, and you are so blessed to have her on your team.
