When I transferred over to the mother-baby unit, Aimee treated me with nothing but dignity and respect.
When delivering a baby, you think you are in charge but in reality, the baby has their own plan. I wanted desperately to VBAC; however, due to factors out of everyone’s control, I ended up delivering via C-section. While unbelievably grateful for a safe delivery and a healthy baby, I was nervous about the reality of having to navigate being a mother while recovering from surgery.
When I transferred over to the mother-baby unit, Aimee treated me with nothing but dignity and respect. She was helpful, kind, caring, compassionate, empathetic, and everything you would want in a nurse taking care of you a few hours after you delivered your baby via c-section. She understood the recovery process and knew what I needed even when I didn’t. She gracefully guided me through the night, and I could not imagine a different nurse being there to help me. She gave me the reassurance that it was ok for my baby to go to the nursery and that I wasn’t a bad mom. She recognized I needed to recover from surgery and have a night of sleep to better care for my son.
Aimee never made me feel shameful for placing my recovery at the same importance as breastfeeding and caring for my baby. She helped guide me through my emotions and feelings. She answered all my questions and concerns quickly and thoughtfully. She was attentive to my needs and often knew I needed something before I did. She had an amazing attention to detail, and she followed through on what she said she was going to do. I felt that my family and I were in fantastic hands throughout the entire night. What sticks out most in my mind is she helped me get up to the bathroom a few hours after surgery at my request. For that, I am exceptionally grateful.
To me, getting up and moving and doing something on my own was the first step mentally and physically towards healing from my delivery and allowing me to feel that I could be the mom I needed to be. Aimee is a gem, and the mother-baby unit is very lucky to have her. Her kind soul truly made a difference to me that evening and it has stuck with me after being home. Thank you, Aimee, for everything you did. I really appreciate your care.

Aimee was my nurse in the AM. She made me feel super comfortable and welcome during my stay. She made me feel like I could ask her for anything, and she was always looking forward to getting me what I needed and answering any questions I had. She also made sure my son was always okay and would even help me out if it came to changing diapers or just in general checking on our health. She did an amazing job and is a wonderful and helpful nurse.
