Aimee has had a gentle disposition from the beginning. She has responded promptly to requests, such as pain medicine - yay!. I can't swallow pills well and normally throw them up if I can swallow them. Aimee didn't make me feel ashamed or embarrassed. I was still NPO and that made taking a pain pill hard, but Aimee crushed it up in a little popsicle which I was allowed to have so that I could get better pain relief.
Yesterday was my father's birthday and he came in from Fairbanks to see me. Without being prompted, Aimee brought ice cream for him as a little celebration (so sweet).
Even the little things like tying a gown or making sure my ice pack was filled, she has done with a smile and a laugh. She has made me feel human which is hard with this cancer diagnosis. She's been cheerful and I feel like it's been easier for me to stay hopeful with her positive attitude showing the way. I love her as my nurse and know I get good care.
