I am writing to nominate Nurse Ainsley M. for her exceptional care, vigilance, and dedication during our son, T's, hospitalization at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. Our son was admitted due to pneumonia, which caused significant oxygen desaturation episodes. Throughout our stay, Nurse Ainsley stood out for her attentiveness, professionalism, and genuine compassion. I had expressed concerns about the intermittent SpO2 monitoring proposed by a doctor on the medical team, and after carefully assessing the situation, Nurse Ainsley agreed with my concerns and took the initiative to switch T back to continuous SpO2 monitoring. This decision proved critical, as my son was at 85% O2 saturation and required high-flow oxygen later that night when his oxygen levels dropped further. Had the intermittent protocol been followed, this desaturation could have gone unnoticed for hours. Nurse Ainsley's fortitude and proactive approach ensured that my son received the necessary care in a timely manner, potentially preventing a more serious situation. Her vigilance and willingness to listen to my concerns not only improved my son's condition but also provided me and my wife with tremendous reassurance during a stressful time. She continuously communicated with us, explained her decisions clearly, and provided the compassionate care that every parent hopes for.
