Nurse Aisha Sesay chose to become a nurse because she wants to make a positive difference in this world and she genuinely cares about the well-being of her patients.
When my grandfather was admitted to Sentara Hospital IMCU, Nurse Aisha Sesay, a nurse who I met before when my grandmother was admitted there once, was beyond phenomenal. She took the time to explain to me everything that had taken place throughout the day and what the next steps are, even though she might've explained it once already to my mother.
During my grandfather's stay, if I didn't know any better I would've guessed he was Aisha's only patient based on the amount of time and care she showed to him. When my grandfather had a state of confusion she immediately called me to inform me of what was taking place and to see if I could talk to him. After our phone call, I became very emotional because my grandfather being confused is out of the norm. Aisha called back about 5-10 minutes later to explain to me what they think may have caused the state of confusion and what the next steps would be - she could hear in my voice that I was upset and she asked was I okay. After talking to Aisha and after she explained to me what would take place to help reverse the temporary state of confusion, I became at ease. I arrived to the hospital a short time later to talk to my grandfather and to aid in calming him down a bit. Again, Aisha took the time to explain to me what is going on and what will be the next course of action.
As I was leaving, she asked was I ok. The genuine nature of Aisha made me, my mother and my grandfather feel extremely comfortable and at ease during his entire stay at Sentara. She went above and beyond and set a true example of what traits a nurse should have. Not only was she this way with my grandfather, she was also this way with my grandmother as well - this tells me that this is just who she is. A genuine caring person who wants the best for her patients.
My sincerest thanks to you Aisha, for the great care you've shown my grandfather and grandmother respectively. My mother and I are forever grateful for your care.
