AJ Troxell, RN
I would like to commend AJ Troxell for the extraordinary compassion and dedication he showed to one of his patients.
The patient is a newly double amputee who had recently received an electric wheelchair, but it arrived unassembled. Recognizing how important this wheelchair was to the patient's independence, AJ didn't hesitate to step in and put it together himself. While assembling a wheelchair wasn't part of his nursing duties, he understood that helping his patient regain mobility and independence was what truly mattered. Because of his kindness and willingness to go above and beyond, the patient was able to begin using the wheelchair immediately instead of waiting for someone else to assemble it. His actions reflect genuine compassion, selflessness, and a deep commitment to patient-centered care.
AJ consistently looks beyond the clinical needs of his patients and sees the person behind them. It is nurses like him who remind us that small acts of kindness can have a tremendous impact on someone's life. He embodies everything the DAISY Award stands for.
