Ajia Mays, BSN, RN
I would like to recognize my nurse, Ajia, who took me in one evening from hurting to healing. Ajia came into the room with bright eyes, a warm, confident and professional manner, and in a few minutes of gentle banter had my husband and me feeling safe for my night away from home. By caring about me AND for me, Ajia freed me from my own awkwardness. I was able to participate fully in receiving her special care and felt hopeful and relieved in the morning. Instead of bracing for each step of cancer recovery, I understood that we were past the biggest step. She reassured me that now healing was happening and I felt sure that she had the skills to keep me on the healing path.
