Alan put my mind at ease during the process with his attentiveness and compassion for what I was going through.
I want to nominate my Nurse, Alan, because of how many great qualities he has as a Nurse that should be recognized. This is long past due.
Just before Thanksgiving in 2020, my 4 wheeler rolled on top of me. I laid trapped over half an hour when my husband came looking for me at dark. I had so many fears being far out on a farm. I'm asthmatic, but screamed as much as possible, knowing no one could hear me. I lost feeling in both legs, but was able to eventually unpin one leg. The second leg remained pinned as I felt the pain progress down my leg in the same pattern as the numbness.
I felt gasoline pouring on me. I've never felt any more pain than being trapped under 400 lbs of metal and plastic. I prayed to God so many times and had no clue if I had any life threatening injuries, as the handle bar landed in my right side and remained there until I was found. With no helmet, my head slammed into the ground twice and I was vomiting non-stop. I was determined not to be found that way.
My husband and son found me at dark and rushed me to Seton Williamson over 40 minutes away, because having worked for Ascension, I knew I would get great care and was proven right. Alan got me straight to a room, and did not cut off my clothing at my request, allowing me to preserve them.
Alan treated me with dignity, respect and like family. He kept me updated and pain free in the process of testing. Alan put my mind at ease during the process with his attentiveness and compassion for what I was going through. An hour prior, I was worried about death, and then in the ER, I had Alan to ease my mind and keep me comfortable. I could not have asked for a better or more perfect experience, given the situation, and feel that Alan deserves The DAISY Award 100%.
