He is great! I am a difficult stick to get blood and IVs in. Alan is the only person who knows how to use the sonogram machine to get an IV in. He's been able to get an IV in me 3-4 times when I come into the ER. It took 8 tries to get an IV. When it wasn't good anymore, he came up with his machine and got it in on the 1st try. His skill with the sonogram machine is amazing. He saved me from being stuck multiple times. I think he should teach all the nurses how to use the machine. He just happened to be working yesterday and was able to get an IV in. If he hadn't been working, I would have become a pin cushion.
On top of his wonderful and helpful sonogram skills, he also has a great personality that helps keep me calm, and for as long as he's in the room, I feel safe, comfortable and well taken care of. He's very funny and that helps me forget about the pain and nausea. I'd love to have Alan as my nurse every time I'm in the hospital.
