At the end of Alana's shift, she drove to McDonald's and sat in the drive-thru to get her patient her cheeseburger for over 40 minutes, only to find out that they were out of fries!
Alana goes above and beyond every shift, every day. Her passion is to always do the right thing for our patients. On a very frustrating shift, Alana was questioning whether nursing is still for her. She spoke about a recent patient of hers that was COVID + that she brought in Dunkin Donuts coffee for every shift that she was on for this patient and mentioned that the patient wasn't "looking so great" and she noted that she hadn't eaten her dinner that particular night.

Alana asked her about not eating, the patient replied that she didn't like the selection and it was too late to get anything else from the cafeteria. Alana asked her what she would like; her response was "a cheeseburger." At the end of Alana's shift, she drove to McDonald's and sat in the drive-thru to get her patient her cheeseburger for over 40 minutes, only to find out that they were out of fries! Alana drove back to the hospital to deliver the patient her cheeseburger only to have to run through the pouring rain as the entrance was blocked off. Needless to say, Alana's story brought tears to my eyes and joy to my heart. I think that at that moment, Alana refilled her own water bottle and answered her own question as to "why she ever became a nurse."
