My wife of 54 years (55 next month), P, and I had distinguished careers with the U.S. Department of Justice. P was a senior litigator in the Civil Rights Division, Education Section, handling the most complex cases, training new attorneys, and receiving high praise from the federal courts she appeared before.

Following our retirements P was diagnosed with Alzheimer's / Dementia. P was rushed to the Masonic ER and from there admitted to the hospital. She was frightened, in pain, and disoriented. Arriving on the 7th floor she was met and cared for by Nurse Alana whose commitment to P's good health and well-being was clearly and effectively demonstrated with every minute that passed. Clear effective communication was given by Nurse Alana and every procedure and action was explained. She had a calming effect, a sense of humor, and a caring compassionate approach that made our hospitalization rewarding. Nurse Alana represents the outstanding best qualities in medical care and significantly made a positive difference in our lives. The weight and darkness of P's condition were brightened and lightened by Nurse Alana. She has our profound thanks.
