Alberto Hernandez, RN

Alberto was our nurse from day 1 of our month-long ICU stay. Alberto took his time caring for my boyfriend; he checked in on his mom and me. He never hesitated to answer all of my many questions. Alberto showed us so much love and compassion when we didn't know what the next day would look like. Staying in the ICU for a month means you see the same faces daily. Alberto is a face we will never forget. Even after being in a coma, my boyfriend would open his eyes to the sound of Alberto’s voice as soon as he walked into the room. He treated him like a person, like he was his friend in the hospital bed. He wanted to know my boyfriend outside of being his patient. Alberto truly went above and beyond. We will be forever grateful for him. He stayed updated on my boyfriend even when he wasn't assigned to him. And he saw him through all the way to the end of our long ICU stay. He deserves this award, and he deserves to know he made an impact and will always be a part of our story.
