Thomas is assigned to the Emergency Department Pediatric unit. Thomas is a full-time student and a full-time employee. He even picks up extra shifts to help the unit out. He comes to work with a smile and does what’s needed. Though assigned to Pediatrics, you might find him doing team nursing in the Adult Ed, working in the monitor room, or working as a Sitter. Thomas is a go-to person for that tough IV start and excels with critical patients. He is a preceptor for ED techs and EMTs. He is a resource for placing splints and is often sharing care tips with the newer nurses. He treats fellow staff members, patients, and parents with respect. The pediatric patients love him as he talks to them and includes them in their care. He collaborates on tasks, working at night, and he often works with 1 RN. This hard-working EMT had been an employee of the month and is a standout on the unit.
