Today I thought I was experiencing a lack of drainage with the new suction system. The Resident was paged, she came in and looked at the tube and said that it was normal, to call them if the grenade were to stop having output. My nurse came in right after asking if the doctor had checked it out, I advised yes, and Aldrin looked at the tube concerned, and then lifted my gown- the pus was draining fast a furious through my incision and all over the bed. Aldrin took that extra step-he respected the doctor to do what they were supposed to do, but then he did what should have been done. He spent a great amount of time installing a bag, cleaning the room, and making it habitable for my wife and me (strategically placing odor eaters throughout the room). Aldrin paged the Resident again, she returned, advised that must have been the reason for the lack of output in the drain, and thanked Aldrin for putting the bag over my incision. Aldrin did so much more than that, he took care of me and ensured my safety, as well as making sure I not only get rid of this infection but don't suffer additional infections. His care and attention have been beyond exceptional. He is a true DAISY Nurse.
