I was seen in the ER. I was diagnosed with a mass in my large intestine. As the doctor spoke to me, I was numb with disbelief. Aleah was present when this occurred. She held my arm as the doctor spoke to me and said, "I will stay with you until she comes." I knew she was busy and declined her offer, but she told me I am her priority right now. True compassion was displayed by this young nurse at one of the darkest moments of my life. I will never forget the kindness she displayed to me. When I was facing a stressful diagnose, this nurse offered herself to me in support. I will never forget this act and the manner in which this nurse offered compassion to me.
