My 20-something daughter was admitted to the ICU on life support, and it was very, very scary to see her on all the machines and monitors. Ironically, I'm an ICU nurse myself, so I understood what was being done to her, but as a mother, I was a complete wreck. Alecia had such a calming presence. She was attentive to every little detail and gave my daughter the best of care, as well as putting up with me hovering over everything and being, quite frankly, a pain in the [blank].
