Alegria "Ria" M Hughes, RN

Ria is over the top helpful, always, with our entire unit and the NICU. She always looks for ways to help other nurses even when she has a full assignment. Ria skillfully precepts new nurses to our unit and continues to support them far beyond their orientation. She is an excellent resource for all nurses for postpartum and nursery skills. Ria is energetic and a positive team player, always looking for gaps to fill when the unit is busy.

For example, Ria is willing to back up the nursery when multiple deliveries are happening at the same time. Ria at this time has floated to the NICU to cover for an unexpected staff departure in the middle of the shift. This and so much more highlight why I wish to nominate Ria for a DAISY Award.

Ria is a vital part of our unit. She is not only skilled as a nurse, but her constant cheerful attitude helps to brighten the shift. We can always count on her when things are busy, and I know we are going to have a good shift when I see her in huddle.
