My recovery wouldn’t have been the same if I did not have her.
Being admitted to the hospital is never easy, especially when you have multiple underlying conditions that most are not familiar with treating. My husband and I always feel like we have been on our toes and vigilant with my care not only to make sure nothing is missed, but also to make sure nothing is done to exacerbate symptoms. My husband intervened and caught a couple of mistakes that could have happened with my care. Alejandra is to thank for us being able to let our guard down and focus on what matters, healing. She always kept her composure no matter what was going on. She never made me feel like I was an inconvenience, no matter how time consuming my care was. She always took the time to explain things to me. A big issue for me during this time was pain control. Before Alejandra, my pain wasn’t well controlled. I would go hours after medication would wear off before getting a nurse to medicate me. A moment I’ll never forget is laying in my hospital bed one night crying because the pain was unbearable, asking my husband if they could just knock me out because I couldn’t take it anymore. Alejandra was always on top of my medication, even before I had to ask. For me, the biggest impact she made on me is the fact that you could tell she genuinely cared about my care. I felt like we were family, not just a room number with a list of doctors’ orders to complete. My recovery wouldn’t have been the same if I did not have her. She truly deserves the highest recognition. My husband and I are so grateful for having her in our lives during my difficult time.
