Recently there was a Hispanic patient in the hospital for many days who had many health issues. The family spoke very little English, and the patient did not qualify for any home services. After the patient was discharged, the nursing team discovered that Allie took it upon herself to visit the family at home and help with any needs they had, being that Allie is bilingual and fluent in Spanish. The patient needed a dressing change and peg tube maintenance and had also recently had a trach removed. Allie provided care and education and most of all support to this patient and family in the home. This goes above all and is why Allie is a DAISY Nurse. She was very worried about this patient and took her own initiative to try to make a difference in this home and for this family.
