Alejandro "Alex" Vega, RN, CCRN

Alex was working alongside me and we were initiating comfort care for a patient. We were withdrawing all life support measures and the goal was to keep the patient comfortable and pass peacefully. I watched this nurse (who was also training another nurse) go above and beyond in communicating with the patient, the family, and the rest of the care team what we were doing and the expectations. Alex was very effective at communicating with everyone involved and most importantly was so gentle and compassionate towards the patient. It truly melted my heart and refreshed my soul to witness this. The patient made a heart with her hands to show her gratitude. Alex is phenomenal to work with and I hope you will consider this nurse for the DAISY Award.
