Alena was completely on board. She has been phenomenal in supporting our teammates!
Alena is such a superstar PM. She joined with me when I started the TLC Connections committee for our team. We use this to reach out to students and other faculty for encouragement. She also helped get our inactive team supported during this very difficult time. She is great with outreach to not only her students but students for the whole team. So outreach and support are definitely her passions! Again, through outreach, Alena meets students where they are. She listens to them and their experiences. Using these, she offers personalized support for them and their educational journey. She is very supportive of our inactive committee. She is very responsive to the team and their requests for outreach to students.
Alena is my "accountability partner." We keep in touch each week to support each other. Just last week, I was very ill and had to go to the care clinic for testing and treatment. I called her to keep a student appointment for me because it was the student's first weekly call which I feel is vital in getting them off to a strong start. Alena was very willing to help. She called the student and provided excellent support to her as well as to me. Again, when I started our TLC Committee for outreach, Alena was completely on board. She has been phenomenal in supporting our teammates! She displays accountability by taking on outreach to our students on behalf of our teammates. She promotes our outreach efforts with our team so that they will participate more and assist us in reaching out to students.
Alena jumped all in with joining our inactive team and taking the workload off of the original team. This has been a great asset to our students and our team. One example of this is the outreach to a student last week. She did not get an answer from the student. She left a voicemail and sent a supportive email. The next day, another team member reached out to the same student. Because of the frequency of outreach, the student answered so that our other teammate could offer the support and the resources that the student really needed. She even keeps up with the data related to our student outreach and recovery. Alena's level of compassion and outreach is completely student-obsessed! Meeting the students where they are and finding them the resources they need for an equitable experience in the program is her specialty! We could not do the level of outreach and support that we do without her.
