Alesia Hamilton, RN, CCRN
Alesia has been providing care for our son in ICU for 2 days. She is a rock star in every sense of the word.
Yesterday was extremely traumatic with him having some renal failure, pneumonia and PRES. She kept us completely informed about every med, every procedure and explained things making sure we could understand.
He did not tolerate having the vent removed and exhibited extreme irritation, which she handled with grace and compassion toward not only our child but us as parents as the vent had to be reinserted.
At the end of the day, when I thanked her for how she handled everything, her response was, "I treat your family member like I would like someone to treat my own."
That is the sign of a truly compassionate person who is in the profession for the right reasons! She is the perfect example of what the DAISY Award represents.
