June 2026 Honoree
Alex (Alejandro) Martinez, BSN, RN, PCCN
I have been a patient at Banner Heart and the adjacent hospital for the past three weeks. During that time, I have experienced a wide range of care settings, including the emergency department, wound clinic, both hospitals, and two and a half weeks in the intensive care unit.
Prior to my retirement, I worked in a role that involved independently evaluating organizations and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, performance, and service. During my time here, I have seen the full spectrum of care experiences.
After a particularly challenging morning, I was transferred to the 4th floor, where Alex became my assigned nurse. Alex is one of those rare gems that an organization is fortunate to have—though you only encounter someone like him once in a great while.
He not only has a deep knowledge of his job, but he also carries himself with a level of confidence that immediately put me at ease and significantly reduced my anxiety. His bedside manner is truly exceptional. He consistently goes above and beyond, demonstrating kindness, attentiveness, and genuine care. It is clear that he takes pride in his work and truly enjoys serving others.
To say that Alex went above and beyond is an understatement. From my perspective, the very best thing Banner could do would be to have him serve as a trainer and role model for others. I wish that everyone I encountered in healthcare demonstrated the same level of excellence that Alex consistently provides.
It has been a true honor to know him. Alex is a four-star, solid gold employee and an outstanding representative of your organization.
