Alex Caliva, RN, BSN
Making a meaningful difference -displaying empathy- this is what going above and beyond, and nursing is all about. Alex is known for his caring and compassion, his attention to detail as he cares for his patients, as well as ensuring patients comfort level is met. Alex, functions as a preceptor, a charge nurse, and is an excellent nurse at the bedside. I want to share with you that recently, Alex had a patient who had the improper cream applied to her peri area. Imagine the patient’s level of discomfort and the burning and irritation she was experiencing. Alex utilized his critical thinking skills. He offered and administered a soothing milk bath to this patient. This patient was forever grateful to Alex. He went above and beyond in his patient’s time of need. The profession of nursing and our patients are truly appreciative of nurses like Alex. Just as the Patrick Barnes family was awestruck by the nursing care and compassion shown to their son. Alex is a role model for the profession of nursing. We are extremely fortunate to have him on our team.
