AJ came on duty on the worst day of my hospital stay. It was the 4th full day after my pancreaectomy, spleenectomy, and gall bladder removal, and my epidural had been removed. All of the sudden I was in extreme pain, and felt utterly helpless at moving around. AJ helped me to the bathroom in my helplessness, showing compassion and granting me a dignity I was in fear of losing in this situation. He attended to me all night and morning, working with the doctor trying to get me something to ease my "out of this world" pain. I was able to get rest that night thanks to AJ's compassion and caring.
