Alex was in the main operating room at Renown, observing the pediatric team performing an urgent surgery. During the time out, the nurse skipped over the patient's allergies. Alex politely and responsibly stopped the time out and informed the surgical team that that the patient did, in fact, have allergies. He then proceeded to list all three of the allergies. Through his actions, he ensured that the patient was not only cared for in the correct manner, but he also showed all the staff the quality of nurses Carrington is producing. It takes a lot of bravery to be a student and to stand up and stop a surgeon and surgical team from moving forward to ensure the patient is in a safe and appropriate care environment.
