Alex is an RN who truly understands healthcare and knows when to get into his scrubs and help his staff to keep our patients safe and taken care of.
Alex Whitefield RN MSN is our building manager. He goes above and beyond every day to take care of his staff. We have had staff stranded with flat tires and he has gone to their rescue. He has called staff when they are sick to ensure they are ok and if they need anything.
The biggest example however is his work to improve the safety of our building. He has met with the Tacoma city council, police chief, and many others to help get the city to clean up around our clinic as we recently had a staff member shot at. There is a huge amount of drug activity, and he has gotten in touch with every person within KP and outside to improve safety. He has gone out on the streets to help pick up trash to ensure we are doing our part for our community.
He also always makes sure the patients are put first as well- even helping with outreach to get patients in for cancer screenings to help motivate the staff. He is always positive despite hard challenges. The list of improvements he has made for our staff and patients is a mile long. If you just come into our building and ask anyone about him, you will only hear glowing remarks. He also trusts our staff to take care of our patients and has created a leadership team for all levels of staff at our clinic which has put the power in the hands of the staff giving them a voice. He is a truly amazing individual and the absolute best manager I have ever had.
Alex isn't just our manager. Alex is a husband and a father. When our stand-up desks were coming for the staff that needed them Alex jumped right in to help create safe and functioning workspaces so the staff wouldn't have to wait another moment to feel better. Alex brings humor to us when we are low in morale, and mentally and physically drained especially through the pandemic.
In closing, we couldn't be more thankful in having such a wonderful leader who simply places all others above himself. Our staff would truly like to see Alex recognized for all he has done and is committed to do pushing forward.
