I had a lot of fear about my ITP condition but this award and learning about Patrick really puts into perspective for me how lucky I am to be alive today. My oncology nurse, Alex, was attentive and answered all of my questions; his sincere compassion really stood out to me. He was attuned to my moods, and when I felt like talking or not talking, he understood. One of the most important aspects of nursing is the interpersonal aspect and Alex was made for this role. As one nurse to another, thank you for treating me with dignity and compassion; he will continue to be a blessing to many others. I commend you!
