I am nominating Alex Schulte for demonstrating the Mercy value of Dignity. When speaking with a patient, a young man in his 20s, regarding his stay here at MHL, he told me he received great care from several ED nurses; especially Alex. The patient had a history of substance and alcohol abuse and was well-known to staff due to his frequent visits with uncontrolled diabetes. He recalled there were many times when he would be intoxicated and treat staff poorly, but despite his history, the patient said Alex "treated me no different than any other person and didn't speak down to me." The patient stated that speaking to Alex helped his decision to quit drinking.
