My brother was in a hit and run car accident and was in and out of the ICU. The first time I met Alex, he was attentive and seemed to care about my brother and his situation. He communicated with us every time he stepped into the room, letting us know what he was going to do so we didn’t have to wonder. He made sure my brother was comfortable and even joked with him, which made us laugh and feel more at ease as we were distraught from this experience. I was surprised that he recognized me after not seeing him for a few days, showing his concern about my brother. It takes an extraordinary person to care for another human being, and Alex did it with care and compassion. He is an excellent candidate and should be recognized for the DAISY Award.
