Every time Alex entered the room, I immediately felt a sense of relief.
I began experiencing symptoms of having a kidney stone. Having experienced the same problem two years ago I knew what I was facing, and I quickly realized that I needed to go to the ER. My wife drove me to St. Clare. I was very scared and in excruciating pain. I was in physical and psychological agony. And in walks my nurse, Alex Winkler. He was patient, honest, calm, friendly, a great listener, funny, distracted me from my pain, and was also extremely professional. Alex somehow managed to make me laugh and I was so engrossed in conversation with him that I was noticeably distracted from the pain. That’s right, his very presence provided a degree of pain control. His bedside manner is the best that I’ve ever experienced as a patient or family member. Every time he entered the room, I immediately felt a sense of relief. He was incredibly efficient. All of my needs were met and met quickly. I consider myself a very patient person, but when I was experiencing that level of pain, such efficiency was appreciated! I’ve had a lot of nurses take care of me in my life, but this was the single best experience I’ve ever had with a nurse. Alex went above and beyond with the quality of care. And if I ever find myself in the ER again; I would be more than thrilled to have him take care of me.
