Alexa was able to help me through yet another labor, recalling helpful details from my first labor to keep us safe and make me comfortable.
In January of 2019, I gave birth to two beautiful little girls after a high-risk twin pregnancy. Alexa was my day-shift nurse who helped me labor throughout the day. Three months later, we lost one of our daughters. Alexa not only supported our family through the birth of our daughters but also in our loss (including donating blood in her memory). Fast forward to January 2022, and we were scheduled for an induction for another baby girl!
As you can imagine, pregnancy and delivery after losing a baby are stressful and full of unknowns. After losing a child, every subsequent appointment or hospital admission always includes a painful reliving of the details of losing our first-born daughter. Having the same nurses for both of my deliveries meant they were already familiar with, not only my medical history but also our emotional trauma, saving us from having to have that hard conversation with a stranger.
During our induction, Alexa came in at shift change and took over. She was able to help me through yet another labor, recalling helpful details from my first labor to keep us safe and make me comfortable. She helped us ease through the day (and delivery!) both medically and emotionally with her light-hearted spirit and quality medical care.
We were able to safely welcome our third little girl with her help. Our family is forever grateful to Alexa for her quality care and support during my first delivery. We hit the jackpot with her! However, the luck of the draw to be blessed with her a second time (and almost 3 years later!) was absolutely incredible.
