Alexa N Shook, RN

Alexa Shook gave me truly exceptional care during my first post-op shift on 9Tower. I was scared about my neurosurgery, but even more afraid about what could happen post-op. I had a really difficult experience with poor nursing care at another hospital in the past. I nominated Alexa for a DAISY Award because she made me feel safe. She was calm, confident, and reassuring. She did the task-oriented parts of my care efficiently and skillfully. I realized she clearly was a very good nurse who knew her job. But it was how she listened to me, didn't rush me, and kept asking how I was doing, that convinced me she really was going to take care of me. I understood that from her attitude and behavior, even how she touched me. It wasn't just words. She really cared and showed me the compassion that a DAISY Award is meant to recognize. She is exceptional, with skills that are very hard to teach. I'm sure she made an important impact on my recovery. Please acknowledge her. Feeling safe is huge.
