I was a patient at Bridgeport Hospital for approximately 15 days before my delivery, due to high risk pregnancy. I was cared for by numerous nurses, they were all amazing, however the nurse I had the privilege to be taken care of during the crucial hours of my labor was really an outstanding caregiver.
Alexa Paola looked young and serious and took over the shift of other two nurses on the phase of severe pain six hours before my delivery. I was in such pain that we didn't really have the time to interact socially with her. In fact all qualities she demonstrated were through her dedicated work in those intense moments. I could never expect such a professional, vigorous and compassionate person taking care of me. She made me feel I was important and that moment was also important for her.
My husband was my birth partner but in fact Alexa was the one who played that role. My doctor finished her shift and left and I was a bit insecure of who could be the Platonist doctor, someone I never saw. But my nurse did all things so that didn't matter. She was very professional, showed knowledge and she was so confident about her work I felt confident and safe about everything. She was well informed of every step she was taking, and answered every question I had. She showed initiative to resolve all the issues that came up during those hours. She was so present in my room all the time and even her physical abilities impressed me, she was able to move me around in bed all by herself many times, when I was numb by anesthesia, to better monitor me and baby. She was dedicated even when she was cleaning all that dirty mess I was making for the tenth time. She made that magic moment special with all her work.
I could describe more or say more about the work of this professional but I will resume in the words of my husband: "She was sent from heaven, she knows what she is doing and she definitely loves what she does." I have so much gratitude for the work my nurse did. Thank you and God bless you Alexa.
