In all points during his care, Alexa advocated for him.
Alexa is the nurse I want to be when I grow up. She is always dedicated to her patients, doing an amazing job of getting all the tasks done that she has for a shift, while still going above and beyond to provide emotional care and comfort to patients and families. In May and June, she took care of a very difficult patient, who had a poor prognosis, for almost every shift she had on the unit. Caring for the patient was physically and emotionally draining, no doubt, but she was happy to care for him and always had a smile on her face. In all points during his care, she advocated for him - reaching out to providers that are unfamiliar with our floor when his condition changed, making sure oncoming nurses were ones that would put in all the extra love and care he would need, and even in his final moments - making sure his family was informed in their native language. I want to thank Alexa for showing me what it is to be a strong nurse who gives her all to patients and is an amazingly helpful teammate nonetheless. She is a DAISY Nurse for being that patient's rock, his family's rock, and incredibly supportive of all of her coworkers. We love you, Lex.
