He understands that he is the bridge between patient and doctor.
Alex introduced himself as my nurse and, right away, listened to my concerns about a new medication. My impression as he spoke was, “he is very calm with explaining this," and “he promptly is contacting the doctor as to what he can't explain, like he said he would."
Throughout my stay, Alex has been a breath of fresh air. He gets his job done, follows up with patients, seeks help when he can't, and makes patients feel heard. Some might feel it's his job to do so, and that's correct. However, Alex has a gentle bedside manner that some lack. He makes the stay a little more optimistic with a smile or a laugh, or by stating, "I'm sorry to hear that."
He's attentive and not even aware that he may have just given hope or perspective to a dying person at the end stage, or any circumstance that brought the individual to the hospital. This is rare to see, and not all nurses are created equal. He understands that he is the bridge between patient and doctor. He takes initiative and follows through. Thank you to Alex!
