Alexander Long, RN

I was scheduled for total hip replacement surgery. Dr. F was the surgeon. A couple of days before my surgery, I messaged my doctor's office and asked them if there was a way to have the same nurse that I had back when I had my left knee replaced. Alex was orienting with vascular and PICC and was not available. I was disappointed but knew I would get excellent care anyway. When I arrived at Midcoast and got settled into my room, I looked at the board and saw his name, and I was delighted.

Alex picked up right where he left off. His kindness, professionalism, and knowledge shine brightly. When his coworker was having a problem finding a good vein, she called on Alex for his expertise. He explained to me the difficulty that my veins were providing and made me comfortable the entire time while using the ultrasound to find the best place for an IV. I was feeling a bit anxious, but he made me feel safe and well cared for. When I got out of surgery, Alex was there to greet me and stayed after his shift to make sure I understood my medication list.
