It is obvious when someone is meant for a profession. Alex is a nurse with only 6 months on the job experience with all of the manner and grace of a pro. The different tasks that he did for my mom- suctioning her phlegm, oral care, giving her medication, were all done with such accuracy and care that I was shocked to find that he had only graduated in December. As we were waiting to take my mom home with hospice care, Alex was carefully getting her ready to go. He took her IVs and feeding tube out, giving her last medications with professional but tender care. After he finished and we were waiting on the ambulance, we realized something was wrong. When Alex and the other nurses came in to check on her and they realized she was taking her last breath, he cared for her as if she was his own mom. After passing, he continued to care for us with a tear in his eyes and our pain. He was professional but tenderly caring for us.
